A taste of Transylvania – day tour from Bucharest

18th April, 2016 | Article By Unveil Romania

Dracula Castle. Peles Royal Palace. Medieval city of Brasnov. A one day trip and 3 different ages: king’s palace, a vampire’s castle and a Teutonic city.

Leave busy Bucharest behind and reach the Carpathian Mountains in a one day trip that you won’t easily forget! A two hour drive. That’s all that it takes to reach the Carpathian Mountains and escape crowded Bucharest.

First stop? Step into the shoes of kings and queens and explore a 19th century marvel: Peles Palace – the private retreat of Romania’s royal family. Next, you’ll go even further back in time, to the middle ages. Guarding the gates of Transylvania, Bran Castle is a stone giant surrounded by myth and legend: Dracula vs Prince Vlad the Impaler; fact vs fiction. The grand finale? Brasov – a city built by the Teutonic Knights in 1211. Dramatically overlooked by Mount Tampa, the city’s intact medieval core is pure fantasy: narrow cobblestone streets, towers & fortifications, gatehouses, craft guilds, old inns and a Gothic Black Church.
