September 26 & 27 sees the return of the ever popular ‘On the Home Front’ event in Rufford Country Park, Nottinghamshire. Step back in time to the war years of 1939 – 1945 in this living history spectacular. All aspects of military and civilian life are depicted in Britain’s ‘Finest Hour’. Experience the sights, emotions, humour and sounds of war time Britain with flypasts, military and vintage vehicles, and battle displays.
You can meet some of the important characters of the time, from Winston Churchill to General Montgomery. See the Land Army girls at work and US paratroopers in the military encampments and the living history shows.
Try your hand at Home Guard Drill or sing along to the popular songs of the day in the live music shows. Watch the swing dancing displays or if you are feeling really energetic you can even learn how to do it yourself!
Purchase items of the time from the 1940s market, and ladies, you can have your hair done in a 1940s style.
There is something for the kids too with an interactive battle display, Baby Boot Camp, a 1930s roundabout and puppet show.
It is sure to be a fun packed weekend for all the family.
This is a free event with a car park charge of £5.
