The Welsh Wine Trail

10th June, 2015 | Article By Food Adventure

When you think of Wales you probably think of castles but if you want to see some of the most picturesque spots in Wales, why not follow the Welsh Wine Trail.

Did you know that Wales has over 15 vineyards in stunning locations producing world class red, rosé, white, as well as sparkling wine. More than 20 different grape varieties are grown in vineyards across Wales producing around 100,000 bottles of wine each year.

I recommend hopping on the trail in Monmouthshire which has over 6 vineyards, 2 Michelin starred restaurants, lovely cafés and bistros, as well as some fabulous castles!

Why not visit Parva Vineyard. Afterwards you can head to Tintern Abbey and then a meal at The Anchor in Tintern.

We also love Ancre Hill Vineyard, a biodynamic vineyard. Monmouth Castle is nearby as well as The Crown, one of Wales’ Michelin starred restaurants.

Or head to White Castle Vineyard near Abergavenny followed by a visit to White Castle and lunch at The Walnut Tree another fabulous Michelin starred restaurant.
