Why Stay at the Amba Charing Cross Hotel

15th October, 2015 | Article By Family Travel Escapades

Amba Charing Cross Hotel lies in the center of London with easy access to the entire city. Luxury amenities, beautiful rooms and interior, concierge room and services, a friendly staff, and a well acclaimed dinner theater make Amba Charing Cross an unbeatable lodging choice for the London tourist.

Charing Cross is considered the center of London. It lies on The Strand, on the edge of Westminster and Central London. You can easily walk to top sites within 15 minutes including Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Soho, Westminster Abbey, Old London, and the London Eye. Charing Cross tube station sits adjacent, allowing easy access to Hyde Park, the Tower of London, Wembley Stadium, King’s Cross, Paddington Station, and St. Pancras Station. Walk to theaters on the Strand or in Piccadilly Circus, shop in Covent Garden, stroll over pedestrian bridges and enjoy watching the street performers, or ride the London Eye. All that London has to offer is at your fingertips.

Amba Charing Cross Hotel ranks #4 on Trip Advisor for London hotels. The hotel is decorated both tastefully and beautifully. Candles line the winding staircase leading to the upstairs dining hall at night. A quiet and comfortable concierge lounge is open until 7 in the evening with tea, coffee, sodas, wine, beer, and snacks. An exercise facility in the basement is open 24 hours.

The rooms are large and comfortable. Mini fridges are stocked with water, beer, soda, and milk. Each room comes with a teapot and an expresso maker with an ample selection of each. Comfortable beds, including American king beds, come with pillows of three thicknesses from which to chose.

The hotel restaurant hosts a “Fawlty Towers” Dinner Theatre production 5 nights per week. Based on the 1970s British TV series created by Monty Python alumnus, John Cleese, it has received rave reviews by the London press. Unfortunately, it was sold out during our stay. Roaring laughter could be heard throughout the halls, and the play actually spilled out into the hotel more than once while we were passing.

Complimentary breakfast is also served in the restaurant. You can help yourself to the buffet which includes traditional English breakfast items (sausage, eggs, beans, mushrooms) and more European fare (smoked fish, meats, yogurt, fruit). Or, you can order many other options like porridge or Eggs Benedict from the menu.

Amba Charing Cross Hotel boasts one of the most friendly and responsive staffs that we have encountered anywhere. From the moment you enter the door, you are greeted with warm smiles. A concierge is available 24 hours per day to offer assistance. They genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs and want to make your experience positive.

Our stay in London was wonderful. We were able to view and experience more than we imagined in a short time. Amba Charing Cross Hotel played a large part in this. If you are planning a visit to London, I highly recommend Amba Charing Cross Hotel. The location, the rooms, the amenities, and staff will all exceed your expectations.

This review is unsolicited. We have no connection with Amba Charing Cross other than spending a few wonderful nights there.
